The story of
“The Maley Train”- “De Vale Trein”

This is the story about one of the best breeding lines in Belgium, especially for the races of 400 – 500 Kms; there are too many facts in this breeding line, which is proving their winning qualities.

Everything started with the best racing pigeon over 4 years in the loft of father Henri Verschueren, called MARCO” 4057751/96 a blue and white feather cock. Bloodline of this pigeon is Velghe and - Maurice Verheye.This super champion was entered 4 times on the National Bourges-race, which is the most important and most popular National race in Belgium : the distance of Bourges to the lofts of Henri and Hans Verschueren is exactly 433 Km.

This pigeon is the only pigeon born in 1996, which Henri kept. He won many other top prices on the shorter races, but we mention only his results on the Bourges National race, because this race is the subject of this story … and the most important race in Belgian pigeon sport, with the highest number of participating pigeons. Henri and Hans paired up the “Marco” with a hen called “Piece of Gold 778”, ringnumber 4505778/98 : she is a full sister of their “Silver Lady” 4451130/97, a wonderfull pale colour hen, which won 5^th National Bourges ( !! ) against 38.152 pigeons at their loft in 1997, the year after Henri’s brother, Marc Verschueren, won 1^st National Bourges ( !! ) against 39.000 pigeons… with a pigeon( pale colour !! ), with the blood of Henri ‘s pigeons in it’s veins !!! The “Piece of Gold 778” never participated on the races; she went immediately at the breeding loft … and as you can see, immediately she started breeding winners. The “Piece of Gold 778” and “Silver Lady 130” came from a direct Raoul & Xavier Verstraete – pigeon ( of the famous “Zilveren-Line” ). Henri and Hans got this pigeon through Geert and Clara Philips, winners of 3 x 1^st National Bourges ( !! ) in 8 years : in 2000, 2002 and 2006.

Out of the golden breeding pair “Marco” x “Piece of Gold 778”, Henri and Hans bred 2 super brothers : 1 is the “PINOKKIO” 4352902/00 ( pale colour ), which can be called one of the best Bourges-pigeons in Belgium : look at his results on the National Bourges-race:

Now, both brothers and their parents are in the breeding loft, breeding other pale “Bourges-winners”. So the “778” and her sister “Silver Lady 130”, as well as “Pinokkio” and “Little Acrobat”, all have the pale colour,
that’s the reason why people gave the name of the “Pale Train” to this pigeon – family.
